Phone: 416-500-0209 · Email: info@unclejay.ca
By booking an appointment online, by phone or in person, by leaving a vehicle, tires or wheels with us, or by using our on-site (mobile) service, you agree to these Terms & Conditions. On-site service is also covered by our Mobile Service Terms at unclejay.ca/mobile-service-terms.
1. BOOKINGS
- An online booking is a request. It stays "pending" until we confirm it, and we'll text you when it's confirmed. If we can't take your requested time, we'll contact you to find another one.
- In-store appointment lengths are estimates. Times may change if your vehicle needs more work than booked, if parts are delayed, or if earlier jobs run long.
- On-site appointments are booked as a 2-hour arrival window, not a fixed time. On-site bookings also need your reply of YES to our Mobile Service Terms text before we dispatch the truck.
- Please give us accurate details: your name, a working mobile number, the service you need, your tire size if you know it and, for on-site service, the exact address. Wrong information can delay or cancel your appointment.
2. ARRIVING, CANCELLING AND NO-SHOWS
- In store: please arrive a few minutes early. If you're more than 15 minutes late, we may need to move you to the next available time.
- To cancel or change the time of your appointment, you must call the store at 416-500-0209. Please call as early as possible.
- On-site (mobile) service: if you cancel or don't show up after our truck has been dispatched, a fee of $50 + HST applies.
- If you miss an appointment without letting us know, we may ask you to confirm future bookings by phone.
3. TEXT MESSAGES (SMS)
- By booking, you agree that we may text the mobile number you give us about your appointment: confirmations, reminders, the Mobile Service Terms request for on-site bookings, arrival updates and completion notices. After a completed visit we may also send a link to leave a review.
- We don't send marketing texts unless you've separately agreed to them.
- Standard message and data rates may apply. You can reply STOP at any time to stop texts. You may then miss reminders and on-site updates.
4. YOUR VEHICLE, TIRES AND WHEELS
- Please remove valuables from your vehicle. We aren't responsible for personal items left in it.
- If your wheels use locking lug nuts, please have the key available. Without it we may not be able to remove the wheels.
- Rusted, seized or damaged studs and lug nuts can break during normal removal. Corroded, bent, cracked or curb-damaged rims can lose air or be damaged further during mounting. We'll tell you about any problem we find. We aren't responsible for damage caused by a pre-existing condition.
- TPMS sensors that are old, corroded or damaged can fail when tires are changed. Replacement sensors and programming are extra.
- We may refuse to install or repair a tire that we consider unsafe, such as one with sidewall damage, a puncture outside the repairable area, a tire that is too old, or the wrong size or rating.
- Customer-supplied tires and wheels: we install them as supplied. We don't warranty their condition, age or suitability.
- Mechanical work: if we find a mechanical problem with your vehicle, we'll tell you what we found and what it will cost. With your approval, we may carry out the mechanical repair at the price you approved. We won't do mechanical work without your approval.
5. SHOP SAFETY — NO CUSTOMERS IN THE WORKSHOP
- Customers are not allowed in the workshop or any working area at any time. Please stay in the customer area.
- By agreeing to these terms, you confirm that you know a guard dog is kept in our shop.
- If you enter the workshop or any working area, you do so at your own risk. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we aren't responsible for any injury, loss or damage that happens there, and you take sole responsibility for it.
6. PHOTOS AND VIDEOS
- You give us permission to take photos and videos of your vehicle, tires and wheels before, during and after the service.
- We may use these photos and videos for marketing, including on our website and social media. You won't be paid for this use.
- We won't publish your name, phone number, email or other contact details. We'll try to avoid showing your licence plate.
7. RIM REPAIR, REFINISHING AND POWDER COATING
- Rim straightening, crack welding, curb-rash repair, refinishing and powder coating restore the wheel as far as its condition allows. Results depend on the wheel's condition.
- Refinishing may not match the original finish of the rim 100%. We can't guarantee a factory-new finish or an exact colour or texture match.
- All rim jobs must be paid in full in advance, before we start the work.
- There are no refunds or returns once a rim job is done.
- Some damage can't be safely repaired. If we find a wheel isn't safe to repair or reuse, we'll tell you before going further. We won't return a wheel to service that we believe is unsafe.
- Turnaround times for rim work are estimates. Coatings need curing time before the wheel can be mounted.
8. AFTER YOUR SERVICE — RE-TORQUE YOUR WHEELS
For your safety, wheel nuts must be re-checked and re-tightened 50–100 km after any wheel or tire service, in store or on site. We're happy to do this for you at no charge. We aren't responsible for wheels that come loose if this check isn't done.
9. SEASONAL TIRE STORAGE
- Storage is $120 + HST per set, per season. Storage must be paid upfront, when the set is dropped off.
- Your tires are stored in a climate-controlled space. Each season of storage includes one of: rebalancing, an inspection, or one flat repair. You choose one when you book.
- When you drop off your tires, we'll note their condition and tread depth.
- We aren't responsible for damage to, or loss of, stored tires or rims of any kind. This includes normal ageing of the rubber.
- Please book a time to pick up or swap your tires. We need [24] hours' notice to have your set ready.
- If your set isn't picked up by the end of the season you paid for, the next season's storage fee is due. If that fee stays unpaid for more than one season, we may dispose of the set after trying to reach you by text and email, and you'll be charged the cost of disposal.
10. PRICES AND PAYMENT
- Prices quoted before the job are estimates. If more work, parts or disposal fees are needed, we'll ask for your approval before going ahead.
- Payment is due when the work is finished, before the vehicle or wheels are released, or on site when the job is done. Rim jobs and tire storage are paid in advance (see sections 7 and 9).
- We accept the payment methods shown in store or by the technician.
- Credit card payments have a 2.5% surcharge.
- Prices are in Canadian dollars and taxes are extra (HST).
11. WARRANTY
- New tires, rims and parts carry the manufacturer's warranty. We'll help you make a manufacturer warranty claim.
- Our workmanship is guaranteed for [30] days from the date of service. If something we did isn't right, contact us and we'll inspect it and correct our work at no charge.
- Warranties don't cover damage from road hazards, potholes, curbs, accidents, misuse, improper inflation, alignment or suspension problems, or work done by someone else.
12. VEHICLES AND WHEELS LEFT WITH US
Please pick up your vehicle or wheels when we tell you they're ready. Items left more than [3] days after we've told you they're ready may be charged a daily storage fee of $[__], and may be dealt with under Ontario's Repair and Storage Liens Act.
13. TIRE & WHEEL PACKAGES (ONLINE STORE)
Packages bought through our online tire and wheel search are subject to the prices, availability and fitment information shown at checkout. Fitment is confirmed before installation. If a package doesn't fit your vehicle as described, we'll work with you on an exchange or refund.
14. LIABILITY AND RELEASE
- We take care with every vehicle and wheel.
- To the fullest extent permitted by law, you release Uncle J's (including Location Tire) and its owners, staff and technicians, and hold them harmless, from any claim for damage of any kind to your vehicle, tires or wheels, whether the damage happens before, during or after your visit.
- To the fullest extent permitted by law, we aren't liable for indirect or consequential losses such as loss of use, towing, missed work or travel costs, or for any damage caused by a pre-existing condition.
- Nothing in these terms limits any rights you have under Ontario's Consumer Protection Act, 2002.
15. YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION
- We collect your name, phone number, email (if given), vehicle and tire details, your on-site service address and location (if you use "use my current location"), and your booking, service and storage history.
- We use this information only to book, carry out and follow up on your service, to find you for on-site service, to keep your service and storage records, and to text or email you about your appointments.
- Photos and videos of your vehicle are used as described in section 6. We never publish your name or contact details with them.
- We don't sell your information.
- We use trusted service providers to run our booking system, address search and texting, and they may handle your information for that purpose only.
- You can ask to see, correct or delete your information by emailing info@unclejay.ca.
16. CHANGES TO THESE TERMS
We may update these terms from time to time. The version on this page when you book is the one that applies to that booking.
17. GOVERNING LAW
These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada that apply there.
